Located near Campo Maior, Agro Turismo Monte Alto is a typical ‘Monte’ from Alentejo inserted in a farm with 300 hectares of holm oak forest, where you can feel the deep connection to this amazing region of Portugal.
The unit offers its guests a total of 8 rooms, all with different decor and a rustic, yet comfortable and charming look.
All rooms have air conditioning, bathroom and flat-screen TV, and free wi-fi service is provided in common areas.
Breakfast is served every morning in the wide, bright dining area, where you can start the day wonderfully, tasting regional products and watching the natural landscape panoramic view. The other meals have to be booked and are arranged to meet the guests' tastes.

Nature, comfort and quietness are the main features of Agro Turismo Monte Alto. On cold winter days, the fireplaces warm your body and soul, and invite you to rest and read the books you postponed during the fuss of everyday life. In warmer days, the outdoor pool invites the guests to swim or sunbathe.
For those looking to explore the surrounding area in an environmentally friendly way, bikes and hiking tracks are available, which make the perfect scenery for birdwatching and observation of the endemic fauna and flora. Among the many birds that can be observed, you might have the chance to see cranes, wood pigeons, bee eaters, little owls and some types of vultures.
On foot or by bicycle, we suggest you to visit the organic garden and to observe the ‘Porco Preto’ (black pig), a typical pig characteristic of Alentejo.
Abrilongo’s Dam is very close to the ‘Herdade do Monte Alto’ and it’s the perfect place for a bike ride, a picnic or fishery.
On clear nights you can learn a little bit more about the constellations through a night skywatching workshop.

Lugares de interés
The Natural Park of Serra de S. Mamede is about 20 km away. We suggest a visit to the Coffee Science Center and the Adega Mayor, both of which are only 4 km away. Ouguela, Elvas, Marvão and Castelo de Vide are also beautiful villages to visit and Olivenza or even Merida, in Spain, should not to be missed!

Aclaraciones:
By car - Coming from the South you should take the N371 road in the Campo Maior – Portalegre direction. 7,5 km from Campo Maior is the village of ‘Nossa Senhora dos Degolados’, simply known as ‘Degolados’. After passing a small bridge you will see a garden at your right hand, close to the first traffic lights. Pass these traffic lights crossing ‘Degolados’ to the next traffic lights. Here you will see the “Monte Alto” sign to the right and from there just follow the signs.
Coming from the North, in Portalegre take the N246 road towards ‘Arronches’. In Arronches follow the N371 road towards ‘Campo Maior’. On the way you will find Degolados, where at the first traffic lights you can see the sign for “Monte Alto” to the left. After that, just follow the signs
By train - The nearest train station is in Portalegre, 42 km away from Agro Turismo Monte Alto. If you want to travel by train please contact Agro Turismo Monte Alto to check the possibility of organizing transportation to and from the railway station.
By bus - ‘Rede Nacional de Expressos‘ has buses to Campo Maior, less than 10 km away from Agro Turismo Monte Alto. You can hire a taxi or contact the unit to verify the possibility to organize transportation to and from Campo Maior.
By plane - The Talavera airport in Badajoz is 45 km away from Agro Turismo Monte Alto. You can contact the green lodge to verify the possibility to organize transportation to and from Badajoz.
